Colleges for Bleeding Disorders
OUR MISSION
Our organization is deeply committed to improving the lives of individuals affected by bleeding disorders, beginning with our local communities and extending our reach internationally. Locally, we work closely with NGOs to raise awareness, educate families, and provide essential support to those impacted by bleeding disorders. Through these partnerships, we aim to foster a supportive environment where patients and their families feel connected, understood, and empowered to manage their health with confidence.
To enhance community knowledge and resources, we organize events that bring together leading health professionals from across the country and around the world. These experts share their insights on the latest advancements in treatment and care for bleeding disorders, providing valuable information directly to patients, families, and caregivers. In addition, we invite patients to share their personal stories, creating a platform for experience-sharing that builds empathy, strengthens connections, and gives voice to those affected by bleeding disorders. By providing access to educational resources and direct support, we ensure that individuals and families have the tools they need to navigate life with a bleeding disorder.
Our mission extends beyond borders to focus on countries facing economic hardships where access to life-saving treatments is limited. We believe in the universal right to healthcare and are committed to bridging the gap in access to essential medications and support services. Working in partnership with NGOs worldwide, we strive to bring modern treatments, such as prophylactic therapies, to communities in need. These treatments have the power to prevent long-term complications, allowing children and adults alike to lead healthier, more active lives. With the dedication of our volunteers, healthcare partners, and supporters, we are amplifying the voices of the bleeding disorder community on a global scale, striving to create a world where no one is burdened by untreated or under-treated bleeding disorders.
Through education, advocacy, and a shared sense of family, we work tirelessly to empower patients and communities, ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to live fully, free from the limitations imposed by bleeding disorders.
LEBANON CHAPTER

Why Lebanon?
Lebanon has been chosen as our international focus due to the unique and severe challenges it faces in supporting individuals with bleeding disorders. The country is currently grappling with an unprecedented economic crisis that has left many families struggling to afford basic necessities, let alone the specialized medications required for managing bleeding disorders. The cost of hemophilia treatment, for example, is prohibitive for most families in Lebanon, where life-saving factor replacement therapies can be overwhelmingly expensive. These medications, which are critical to preventing life-threatening bleeding episodes, are in short supply due to high costs, lack of subsidies, and logistical barriers that prevent regular importation.
Current Situation
Lebanon’s healthcare system is under severe strain, exacerbated by financial collapse, inflation, and a lack of governmental support. The cost of medications for bleeding disorders, such as clotting factor concentrates and other prophylactic treatments, has surged beyond the reach of many. Public health insurance coverage is limited, and private insurance does not always cover the extensive treatment costs for chronic conditions like hemophilia. As a result, many patients are unable to access consistent and adequate care, leaving children and adults with bleeding disorders at risk of severe complications from untreated bleeds.
Moreover, due to the economic hardships, families are often unable to afford prophylactic treatment for children, a preventive approach that is critical for maintaining joint health and reducing the risk of long-term damage. Without prophylaxis, children with hemophilia face frequent and unpredictable bleeding episodes that can cause irreversible harm to their joints and overall physical development. For adults, lack of access to treatment increases the risk of disability, reducing their ability to work and further deepening the cycle of economic hardship.
Our Role and Initiatives
In response to these urgent needs, we are committed to advocating for improved healthcare access for bleeding disorder patients in Lebanon. Our mission involves a multi-faceted approach that includes supporting local non-governmental organizations (NGOs) dedicated to bleeding disorders, collaborating to enhance their capacity for outreach and patient support, and facilitating the acquisition and distribution of essential medications. We aim to build strong partnerships with healthcare providers, international organizations, and the Lebanese diaspora to secure a steady supply of factor concentrates and other critical medications. This includes organizing fundraising events and donation drives specifically to support Lebanon’s bleeding disorder community.
In addition to providing material support, we actively work to raise awareness within Lebanon about the importance of early and consistent treatment for bleeding disorders. By promoting educational initiatives, we aim to empower patients and families to advocate for their healthcare needs, seek timely medical intervention, and understand the benefits of prophylactic treatments. We also work with local advocacy groups to engage with policymakers, highlighting the urgent need for government assistance and international support to address the healthcare crisis for individuals with hemophilia and other bleeding disorders.
Goals for the Future
Our long-term vision for Mission Lebanon includes the establishment of sustainable healthcare solutions that allow individuals with bleeding disorders to receive regular and affordable treatment. We aspire to create a future where children in Lebanon with hemophilia can access prophylactic care, reducing their risk of disability and enabling them to pursue their education and aspirations without the constant fear of debilitating bleeds. By advocating for systemic change and fostering a community of support, we hope to make a significant difference in the lives of Lebanon’s bleeding disorder patients, providing them with the resources, hope, and resilience needed to overcome their daily challenges.
